A
REPORT FROM DAN MUTH Maryland
Confessing Episcopalians After praying for the Eames Commission and their meeting at Kanuga, we received a presentation from Steve Tiedemann, Attorney at Law, on incorporation of our organization as Maryland Confessing Episcopalians, Chartered. This we agreed to and we appointed five board members: President Ron Fisher, Vice President Emory Stagmer, Treasurer Anthony Vidal, and Fighting-Over-Who-Gets-To-Be-Secretary Fayne Farrar and Dan Muth. Ours is a completely independent organization with no ties to any parish, church organization, ECUSA, or the diocese. We are not officially affiliated with the AAC. This status could change at some time in the future.
Steve will function as our attorney and, as such, will not make himself available to serve on the Board. He has filed the necessary paperwork (on Thursday) chartering our organization. The Board of Directors will now need to adopt bylaws, determine membership, dues (if any) statement of faith, etc. Steve discussed a lot more boring legal stuff but you all get the idea. Were on our way.
Anthony then discussed the status of the website, which is currently under development. He has a link to the under-construction site, which you can get from him. Included will be such things as Who We Are, News, Youth, links, and a calendar. We would like to be able to post coherent, cohesive theological defenses of orthodoxy Fr. Wooley has been invited to act as Court Theologian, vetting any submissions (I have a few modest items which Ill submit in my copious free time). We also particularly want to provide youth with answers to some of their questions regarding the faith and defense thereof.
Speaking of youth, there was a fair amount of enthusiasm expressed over the thought of joining our various youth groups together. Linking up smaller churches with larger ones would be helpful. Most parishes have good ideas to share with the rest of us. We are working on some potential activities and will be putting out more information in the future. A lot of communicating could be done via the website, once its up and operating.
This is an exciting time in the Diocese of Maryland. A monthly clergy meeting has been taking place which has been working symbiotically with the Confessing Episcopalians organization. By my reckoning, we have thus far Ascension, St Timothys, and Holy Cross officially in the Network (sorry if I missed anybody). Several more of us are working on it. This is likely to get more significant see below. Return to the Maryland Network list |
